Tui Ruwhiu is an alumnus of the EAVE Producers Workshop and the Rotterdam Producers Lab. He has trained as a script editor through the New Zealand Film Commission's First Feature Film Lab with script consultant and writer Keith Thompson, the Script to Screen FilmUp mentorship program with script consultant Brita McVeigh, and the Script Factory Foundation Script Development Workshop. From 2010 - 2012 Tui was Executive Producer for the New Zealand Film Commission's Premiere Shorts high-end short film fund, overseeing four short films that went on to international success. In 2013 he produced the short film Pumanawa: the Gift, which was selected for the Hawaii, Fort Lauderdale, New Zealand, and Drama international film festivals, among others. Tui comes from a long background in factual and entertainment programming as a writer, director, producer and executive producer. He also spent seven years as managing director of a marketing communications company providing strategic and tactical marketing communications services to a range of large corporations and small businesses across a number of sectors. Together with his writer/producer colleague, Tui has a slate of films and TV drama series in a variety of genres. Tui is a graduate of the Sendagaya Japanese Language Institute in Tokyo, Japan where he spent three years studying written and spoken Japanese.
