Jay Wells L'Ecuyer began a writing career with The Queen Elizabeth II full Academic Scholarship to The Humber School of Comedy in Toronto, ON. While at Humber, Jay began training in Sketch Comedy under Robin Duke (SNL) and Joe Flaherty (The Second City) in 2004. Independently performing stand-up comedy at various comedy clubs such as Yuk Yuk's and The Laugh Resort, he began honing his craft in front of a live audience. Before long, headlining, hosting independent shows, and touring with seasoned professionals became a natural occurrence. Once receiving a diploma for Comedy Writing and Performance in 2006, Jay became a founding member of 'The Boom' Sketch Troupe. Jay has personally written and performed live Sketch Comedy alongside Colin Mochrie, Scott Thompson, Judah Friedlander, and many more of The Boom's special guests. 'The Boom' has performed in The Montreal Sketch Comedy Festival, The Toronto Sketch Comedy Festival, The L.A Comedy Festival, and The Upright Citizens Brigade in both L.A and NYC. One can see their live monthly shows at 'The Supermarket' and 'The Second City' in Toronto, ON. 'The Boom' was nominated for a Canadian Comedy Award for best Web Clip, 'That Thing that Happened' on youtube. In 2010 Jay was signed to Amanda Rosenthal Talent (A.R.T Agency) and in less than one year he landed three television commercials (Pepsi, Lays chips, Nabob Coffee, and Salvation Army), as well as two television show appearances ('Dan for Mayor' on CTV and 'Cocktales' on MTV Canada) That same year, Jay and Bryn Pottie began a writing partnership, which has recently resulted in two full length broad comedy screenplays, both of which have yet to be shopped, as well as a pilot/first season outline for a television series. That, too, has yet too be shopped. In July of 2011, Jay and Bryn signed with Wrede/Vainshtein Management, expanding their reach fully into the United States. W/V Management foresees a long and successful career ahead for this very talented comedy duo, both as writers and performers, whether in film, television or new media. Jay and Bryn know how to do it all.
