Tarik El Idrissi was born on March 21, 1978 in Al Hoceima, Morocco. at the age of 20, he leaves to live in Spain, where his artistic preoccupations lead him to follow an audiovisual training course in Madrid. After a long experience in artistic and social movements, he decides to embark on a new adventure and co-directs his first documentary with journalist Javier Rada, Arrhash. A film produced with their own resources, about the memory of his native country and more specifically his region of origin: the Rif. This film is about the first chemical bombing in history against a civilian population, carried out by Spain against the Rif population. The documentary receives three international awards and is very successful in the academic and research community. In 2010, after more than ten years in Spain, he decides to return to Morocco and sets up his own production company in Rabat, Farfira Films, with which he produces many institutional films and publicity spots. He also makes two short fiction films. In 2015, he directs his second documentary film on historical memory, Rif 58-59: Briser Le silence, which won several awards in Morocco and internationally. And in 2017, he directed his third documentary Le voyage de Khadija, a story of women, immigration, and identities, also awarded several times. Since 2019, he has been directing a TV movie and two TV series for the TV channel Tamazight. At the end of 2021, he is about to present his first feature film, Sound of Berberia, thanks to the support of the Centre Cinématographique Marocain, a film that tells the story of two musicians who travel through North Africa in search of the true Berber Sound.
