James Sackos was born on March 24, 1974 in Saginaw, Michigan. His parents moved him to Fort Myers, Florida in 1975 where he spent the majority of his life. He attended Riverdale High School, graduating in 1992. Sackos briefly attended Tallahassee Community College before transferring to Florida State University in 1993. Although he lost his scholarship opportunity with the university, he still remained active with baseball. Sackos missed out on the 1993 MLB draft but signed with the Minnesota Twins as a non-drafted free agent. He spent only one year playing with the Quad City River Bandits in Iowa before returning to his hometown of Fort Myers, Florida. Sackos co-owned Pro Player Agency after giving up on his dream of playing professional baseball. He served as an agent before selling off his business. Sackos was offered to play a small role in the movie, "Canvas". He played a detective named Steve as a credited role. Currently, Sackos resides in Cape Coral, Florida, where he serves as a licensed insurance agent.
