Justin Young, M.D. is a doctor by profession, but a filmmaker by passion. He has had an interest in storytelling for years, and has been fascinated by the movie-going experience since seeing dinosaurs run across the screen in Jurassic Park as a kid, and has been chasing that sense of wonder through film ever since. He branched out to more creative writing endeavors as a contributor to the Huffington Post, as well as some medical pieces for various media, but the goal is to become more adventurous through filmmaking. With a passion for politics, travel, and a deep love for movies and how they illuminate our connections, his goal is to tell stories with characters who aren't just LGBTQ or people of color, but also fit into any number of realized worlds that may involve dragons, espionage, romance, ancient prophecies, governmental power struggles, identity crises, or awkward first dates. That's Me On the Right is his first film, and he has the drive to make many more. Justin was born in New Jersey and grew up there until moving to Atlanta as a teenager. He's had a variety of experiences that fuel a unique perspective and voice, growing up in the South, undergrad studies at UNC-Chapel Hill (where he was Student Body President), the rewarding progression into medicine as a physician (med school at Meharry Medical College, trained initially in general surgery at Emory University), and even seemingly random pursuits that included running around the world with his sister for The Amazing Race. With hopes to broaden his endeavors to include a more creative career in screenwriting, he is just trying to tell stories that illuminate the lives that don't get to be seen on camera that often, with hopes that they're shared even more...in part through the lens of an adventurous, gay, black doctor, whose imagination refuses to be contained, all fueled by a curiosity that ignites a passion for this next artistic journey.
