Born in Beijing, China, Yancey Wang completed her undergraduate degrees in Finance and Theater at USC and began her career as a reader in Hollywood. After working as an assistant on the films Looper and Iron Man 3, she moved back to Beijing to work as a Creative Executive and later Director of Production for Lu Chuan, an A-list director in China. Yancey spent 3 years producing Lu Chuan's Born In China for Disneynature, from development to delivery. Between 2015 and 2017, Yancey was a Production Executive for Walt Disney Studios China, supervising physical production for the studio's Mandarin language local content. After relocating back to LA in 2018, Yancey shifted to a writing career. As a first-generation immigrant writer, she explores stories about identity crisis, disillusionment and the rebuilding of belief systems. Her first TV pilot, South Sea, won Grand Prize in the 2020 WeScreenplay Diverse Voices Lab and ScreenCraft Action Adventure Competition. Her short film directorial debut, Amicus, won Best First-Time Director at LA Film Awards. She is one of 13 writers selected by the Disney General Entertainment TV Writing Program in 2022.
