As a child Andy S McEwan showed an keen interest in film. As a teenager, he bought a camcorder and started to film short sketches and short films. After leaving school his passion for film continued and he studied television production at the Glasgow Metropolitan College. After graduating from college, he teamed up with Quick Off The Mark Productions to produce their first feature film In Search of La Che (2011).. Since then, Andy has been involved in many and varied films over the years and in November 2012 he was reunited with Quick Off The Mark Productions writing and starring in the short film The Greyness of Autumn (2012). In 2013, Andy began production on Broken Record (2014) which marked his directorial debut. The film was released in April 2014 and made appearances at a number of festivals inkling the Portobello Film Festival in London. In December of that year, it was announced that a sequel for The Greyness of Autumn (2012) was being written with the aim of filming starting in 2015. The film, Autumn Never Dies (2020) is due for release in 2016.
