Joshua Bergasse is a NYC based teacher and choreographer and member of the Broadway Dance Center Faculty since 1998. Mr. Bergasse's style is classic Broadway charm, his highest profile gig was in the company of "Hairspray" on Broadway. He is certified by the Jerome Robbins Foundation to teach the choreography of "West Side Story". He is best known for his riveting and dynamic mixture of Broadway and pop on the award winning NBC hit t.v. show "Smash". In which he won a "Primetime Emmy Award" for outstanding choreography in 2012 for the routines "National Pastime", "Let's Be Bad" and "Never Met a Wolf". Additionally he has choreographed a group routine for the top 10 dancers on Fox's "So You Think You Can Dance." Bergasse has performed in the Broadway companies of "The Life" and "Hairspray" and the national touring companies of "Hairspray," "Movin' Out" "and "West Side Story." He has also toured with the Manhattan Dance Project, West Coast Dance Explosion and Tremaine. Besides being on faculty at BDC, Bergasse is the artistic director for the Musical Theater Performance Project at BDC. He has been a guest artist at New York University, Marymount Manhattan College, Indiana University, James Madison University, Shenandoah University, Kean University, Creighton University and the University of California Satellite Program.
