Johanna Thea's acting is characterised by her authenticity, passion and playfulness. She was born in Westminster and brought up in the West Coast of Ireland and is of Jamaican, Indian and Swiss descent. The child of a professional international dancer/singer and a charity worker, she is the first actor in her family. Johanna's career in the arts began at a monologue slam in NYC'S Bowery poetry, for which she received a standing ovation that inspired her to persue acting professionally. Most recently seen in ITV's Finding Alice (2021) as Chelsea, and in a commercial for cat food in the USA, meanwhile studying for her MSc at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, Johanna Thea is also a writer contributing to online zines, commissioned most often for pieces on Wellbeing based on the Neuroscience and Psychology as well as being a speaker too. So that when relating to characters both light and dark, she draws on her academic knowledge to cultivate their stories as accurately and authentically as possible. Professionally she has been nominated for best actress in a webseries (2018) for her role as Eva in British Indie "RESOLVE". "THE WIND CRIES" in which she plays Laurie Lovely was shortlisted in Oscar qualifying festival Dances with Film. Other films such as "Struggle" won multiple awards and her Irish debut "When Next Possible Take a U-Turn" was shortlisted at both Catalyst & Linear international film festivals, winning Best LGBT Film of the year in 2019. She has also been in select commercials for Range Rover, DIAGEO, the bark based eco-friendly brand José Hendo, walking for Isabelle Deringo during LA fashion week. As mentioned alongside her acting Johanna is a writer, her first book entitled "IF ONLY YOU KNEW" is about healing, with articles focusing on wellbeing, neuroscience and freedom She's recently returned to writing scripts, is a reiki practitioner and works to supporting vulnerable adults living as independently as possible
