After his retirement as a Pharmacist, Stanley Blum pursued his true life ambition. It all started at a film screening... Watching the film The Jolson Story (1946) at age 14 inspired Stanley Blum to sing. Paraphrasing Al Jolson, "let [Stanley Blum] sing and he is happy"! The following year, he took part in the Carol Levis Talent Competition at the City Varieties Theatre in Leeds. Over the next few years, he appeared in a number of Al Jolson inspired shows at the Judean Club (also in Leeds), where he met fellow Jolson enthusiast Frankie Vaughan. From then on, Stanley Blum developed his passion for performing, honing his skills with principal parts in Gilbert & Sullivan's operettas. At school, he also trained and directed the House Choir, which won the Saint Cecilia Music Competition of 1948. When school came to an end, Stanley Blum went to university and became a Pharmacist. Even when first dedicating his professional life to his Pharmacy, Stanley Blum carried on singing and acting everywhere, with his children at home and tons of music and drama societies around London. Once he sold his Pharmacy, Stanley Blum enabled himself to follow his passion full steam ahead. In 2011, he successfully produced and starred in two Gala Charity productions, in aid of Great Ormond Street Childrens Hospital (March 2011) and in aid of the Amy Winehouse Foundation (November 2011). Around this time, from 2009 onwards, Stanley Blum started to be approached by up and coming directors. Over night, he shone in three back-to-back stellar performances: the tender Dr John Green in Grace (2009), the sympathetic Maurice of Busman's Holiday (2009), and the charming Bruce Crompton in The Silver Surfer (2010). Following the acclaim of these short films in the art house circles and his brief but enigmatic presence and voiceover in the feature film The Infidel (2010), Stanley Blum has been enjoying an ascending career in show business.
