Richards formal education after high school started at Rock Valley College, continued at Western Illinois University, and finished with a BA in Psychology and Communications at Governors State University. Courses included Creative Writing, Video Production, Journalism, Film as Propaganda, Documentary Film, Arcology, Game Theory, General Systems Theory, Communications Theory. Following college he wrote several short plays designed to be performed live or before a small audience, or on the street. Called Guerilla Theatre at the time. Richard has written four full feature screenplays including Fraternal Nightmares (with David A Hall), Geeky Teen Breakup, Sex and the Universe, BIMBRO: Bad Indie Movie Bro. Two other screenplays are in progress: A Human Among Us, and a series Scientific Soul Matching. Within the past few years he has taken additional courses at Rock Valley College in screen writing and directing. He has also taken group acting classes from Hollywood Acting Coach Molli Benson, and an on location Western Acting Workshop in Arizona with Molli Benson.
