Rahsaana Ison, is an American actress, jazz vocalist, playwright and director, born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana(the birthplace of Jazz). At an early age, Rahsaana began to sing and perform in various venues, to include churches, nightclubs, festivals, musical theatre and the likes under her mother's strict guidance. It was inevitable that Rahsaana, a 4th generation jazz musician would follow the lead of her musically enriched family. Her father, Richwell Ison, a jazz trumpeter and flutist inspired her most. Rahsaana's mother, the late Eartha Harris can be credited not only for managing her singing career, but for exposing Rahsaana to the Arts of acting and Community Theatre. Her talent and passion for Acting would lead her to several years of teaching the Arts(Drama, Theatre, Chorus and Music)to countless inner city kids within the New Orleans Public School System where she also implemented education programs which encouraged participation and performance. She would eventually give private lessons, prompting her to birth "Ison Acts" , her signature boutique acting school. Rahsaana landed a speaking role in producer-director Lee Daniels', "The Paperboy" which afforded her the opportunity to join Sag-Aftra.
