A native of Minnesota, Alex M. Cooper, M.A. works as Newscast Director (ELC Operator) for FOX 9 KMSP TV in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. He holds a 2011 Upper Midwest Regional Emmy® Award for ELC Operator of "Fox 9 Buzz" as well as a 2005 Upper Midwest Student Award for Excellence submitted for work on "One Great Teacher", while a junior at Hopkins High School in Minnetonka, Minnesota. He also holds Upper Midwest Regional Emmy® nominations for Director of "FOX 9 News 10 @ 10" (2016 nominee for Director - APC [automated production control]), Director of "Alex Cooper Composite" (2015 nominee for Director - APC [automated production control]), Director of "Fox 9 Morning News at 7AM" (2014 nominee for Newscast - Daytime - Markets 1-20), Director of "Fox 9 Morning News at 8AM" (2013 nominee for Director - Live or Live-to-tape), Director of "Fox 9 Morning News at 8AM" (2013 nominee for Director - APC [automated production control]), Director of "Fox 9 Buzz" (2012 nominee for Newscast - Daytime - Markets 1-20), and Director of "Fox 9 Morning News at 5AM" (2012 nominee for Director - Newscast). His education includes an M.A. in Strategic Communication Management (2014 - Concordia University, Saint Paul, Minnesota), B.A. in Communications / A.A.S. in Environmental Safety & Security Technologies (2012 - Thomas Edison State College, Trenton, New Jersey), A.A. in Accounting & Mass Communication (2012 - Normandale Community College, Bloomington, Minnesota), and Certificates in Management (2011), Human Resource Management (2011), and Marketing Management (2012) also from Normandale Community College (Bloomington, Minnesota). Alex Cooper's work in television began during high school and experiences available through KHOP-TV, the Hopkins School District's television program, fostered the skills and passion to grow. From there, Cooper found a role operating a studio camera was available at nearby FOX 9 KMSP-TV and began his media career through growth from 2006 through present in roles of studio camera operator, audio operator, robotic camera operator, floor director, technical operations center [TOC]/engineering coordinator [ENCOR], master control operator [MCO], and now operates with the primary responsibility of directing newscasts through the use of Sony ELC Automated Production Control software. Additional freelance work has been completed on Nationally Televised FOX Sports events including 2009-10 Minnesota Vikings Games held at the Metrodome in Minneapolis (Bears "A" game and Cowboys NFC Playoff game) and the 2014 Major League Baseball All-Star Game held at Target Field in Minneapolis. Roles at these events included setup/teardown, parabolic audio [PARAB], cabling support, and dugout lighting.
