Born and raised in Southern California, Anthony Alexander Russell moved to San Francisco at the age of 18 to study film at the San Francisco Art Institute under George and Mike Kuchar. After two years in San Francisco, he spent several months traveling through Europe. There, he gathered a wealth of inspiration and material to complete his debut feature "Real Men Walk" which he completed while at the Glasgow School Of art. His films tend to be surreal meditations on absurd circumstances of loss, powerlessness, transcendence, and romance.
