Steven J. Tandy is a writer/director/producer from Bacchus Marsh, Regional Victoria. He was awarded the Vice Chancellor's Scholarship to study the Bachelor of Film and Television at Swinburne University. In 2013, Tandy travelled the USA with his Graduate short 'Yesterday's News' (2013), a claustrophobic drama about working the Graveyard shift at a local petrol station. He was awarded the Director's Choice Award at Sacramento Film Festival. It was later picked up for distribution. Tandy also wrote the screenplay for 'The Suitcase' (2013), directed by Natassha Amalia, which won a Platinum Remi for Best Student Short at Houston Worldfest. In 2015, Tandy began writing his debut feature film script 'The Black Dogs We Carry'. This screenplay was selected by Open Channel's Script Development program, Scriptstart for professional development. Later that year, Tandy won the audience award and judges award at Open Channel's Short and Sharp Pitching Competition. Since this time the screenplay has been optioned with Tandy attached to direct. In 2018, Tandy returned to directing short films and music videos. His short film, 'The Story', starring Aussie Rock Icon, Tim Rogers premiered Opening Night of St.Kilda Film Festival. Tandy shortly followed this with the short film 'Untitled: Saturn Returns (2019) starring Australian legend Andrew S. Gilbert. In 2019, Tandy became the Rights Holder to Australian biography Hanged Man The Life and Death of Ronald Ryan which he is developing into a dramatic mini-series.
