Detective Andrew Laptew is a retired police officer who worked for the West Yorkshire Police. After eight years as a uniformed constable in West Yorkshire, he joined the Crime Investigation Department. He was a junior detective during the investigation searching for the Yorkshire Ripper, Peter Sutcliffe. Laptew was one of the few who suspected Sutcliffe early on, having interviewed him. Laptew retired and works as a volunteer guide at the Keighley Police Museum and Bradford City Hall.
