Born in Chicago Ill, Breck Jamison started his acting career at the Goodman School of Drama at DePaul University, where he was featured in many plays. While in Chicago, he also worked for an avant-garde theater company and was seen at Sauk Valley College in an original adaptation of Jerry Kozinki's novel Being There as Chauncy Gardiner. In addition to his studies at DePaul University, he later went on to study at Indiana State University and Northern Illinois University. In between his studies Jamison taught sign language to the deaf and worked at the Illinois State Institution for the Mentally Ill. Breck has also studied dance and sang and played with a local Chicago blues band. In 1984 he made his television debut on As The World Turns, playing the role of Jay Connors. He won the role over hundreds of other actors in a coast-to-coat talent search. His time on As The World Turns found Jamison acting alongside future film stars Marisa Tomei, Julianne Moore and Meg Ryan.
