Not many of us can say that we found our calling at an early age. Ryan Singh first stepped into the 'Entertainment Spotlight' in his homeland of Guyana, South America at just 6 years old. The stage for his life's calling was set out when he performed poetry in what was to be one of many national performing competitions. Next, Singh moved into larger roles and was immediately cast in local plays that took him on regular tours throughout his homeland. In 1993 at the age of 16, Ryan immigrated to Canada and focused on realizing his dream of becoming an actor. Early opportunities in Canada were limited for diverse performers and so he began developing his own projects. As an independent producer for stage, television and film - Ryan created opportunities for himself and others. He formed a strong community network and started writing, directing, producing, and advocating for the arts. In 2006, Ryan formed the Not-For-Profit organization Roots International Arts Theatre Incorporated, through which more than 6 productions were produced in Canada and Guyana. The Roots Theatre has sponsored several workshops over the years including the notable Tom Todoroff Acting Workshop and The Talent Unleashed Workshop. The Roots Theatre continues to do work in the community today. In April 2013 Ryan Singh produced a short autobiographical documentary titled MOM. It is the story about a man who reflects on the tradition of absent fathers in his family and how he wants to break the trend as he prepares to be a father. The short film MOM featured his real-life mother and wife. It captured the audiences attention at the premiere screening during the ReelWorld Film Festival in 2014.
