Thomas Purcaro Decaro grew up in Italy, in the Roman countryside and moved to Brussels to study cinema at I.N.S.A.S., as director of photography and cameraman. Driven by a passion for the arts, never ceases to experiment with new forms of creation and expression of the language of the image, which has led him to collaborate with various creators from multiple fields, notably musical (Forum des Composers, Ars Musica, Les Sons des Cinés). This musical sensibility is found in all of his audiovisual projects. It is in the "cinema of the real" that he finds, offers original narratives in a very close human perspective, where the ancient and the modern find new filming forms. Main Projects After the experience as director of photography for the documentary "Des Hommes" ( by Stanislas Zambeaux, prod. DERIVES, 2014), continues as an author in the world of creative documentaries, with his own first documentary "Abbiamo Fatto Bene" (prod. Abyssal Process, 2015), which tells the story and the dreamlike universe of an old Roman painter, entirely filmed his atelier in Rome. In 2017, the production Abyssal Process leads him to the creation of a miniseries of 6 episodes retracing the history of a Brussels nightclub from the 80s, the Mirano Continental. From that comes his first feature-length documentary "Mirano 80, L'espace d'un rêve", written and co-directed with the author and director Luc Jabon, a research process that lasted 3 years (prod. Imagecreation.com, RTBF broadcast planned for the end of 2021). In the meantime, he accompanied in 2018 as cameraman and director of photography the writer Jean-Marc Turin for the documentary project "Terre Noire" (prod. Luna Blue Film), filmed in the Comoros Archipelago, highlighting picture the reality of post-colonial injustices. In 2019, he supports again the director Stan Zambeaux in his documentary project "La Buena Vida" (Magneto Prod, FR / ESP). In 2020, he collaborates with the composer Stéphane Orlando on the original creation of two mini-series "The Smile" (FIFF, Théâtre de Namur) and "Night-Fall" (being completed), combining cinematic aesthetics, documentary narrative and opera.
