"I believe that every person has been given a unique story and gift that, when shared, can leave a legacy that echoes into eternity. I will always write and release songs that communicate what is important to me and give a glimpse into my true story. I definitely want my music to be entertaining, but, more than anything, I want it to be an inspiration to those who hear it." Country music artist Stephanie Owens captivates audiences with her compelling voice, contagious smile, and magnetic stage presence, which flow from her passionate heart and vision. Her music creatively captures both the raw vulnerability and bold intentionality of her personality and character. Stephanie independently released her debut EP May of 2018. Each of the five songs on the recording were co-written by Owens and highlight her dynamic voice and eclectic musical tastes. She co-produced the EP alongside Grammy-nominated producer Brad Hill. The debut single, "Heart Taker," immediately captures listeners with its 1980s-throwback countrified groove. "Little Girl in the Mirror," her second single off the EP, is a poignant reflection on her personal teenage struggles with body image and identity. She believes this song resonates with today's culture. "For me, talking about my insecurities is freeing. I used to crumble under the pressures of finding my identity and living up to my own perfectionistic expectations. It is an ongoing learning process, but I now know that perfection is a standard that doesn't exist. I believe there is so much hope to be found in knowing that every heartbreak and detour paints a beautiful picture that can inspire others." "Rest," is a heartfelt ballad whose storytelling nature reveals her trust in the Lord throughout all circumstances, even when life does not seem to make sense. Stephanie's spunky nature and sense of humor shine through the swagger of "Behind the Wheel," a catchy tune with strong country musical roots. Her charming vocals take center stage in the last title, "Box of Letters," a sweet and innocent tribute to her future husband (to whom she is now married). "I was always a hopeless romantic," Stephanie laughs. "I started writing letters to my future husband when I was about twelve, and, over the years, I would put them in this little box for safe-keeping so that I could give them to him someday as a wedding present." Building off of the momentum from her debut EP, Stephanie released her co-written and co-produced single, "Slingshot", in September 2019. CMT premiered the music video as part of CMT Next Up Now in September and also featured the single on the official CMT Next Women of Country Spotify and Apple Music playlists. The single is a high-energy tune that rallies listeners to view life's difficulties as launching pads toward future accomplishments. "We all face struggles and go through times when we feel like the underdog." Stephanie continues, "Hardships in life are inevitable, but we can choose to let them be setbacks or setups. In my own experience, fighting through trials has always made me stronger. My vision for 'Slingshot' is that it will inspire others to have this same comeback mentality!" Stephanie's next co-written and co-produced single, "Inside Looking Out", was released in January 2020. A poignant ballad that inspires others to look for the good when life goes unexpected ways, the single stays true to Stephanie's authenticity and down-to-earth personality. "Inside Looking Out" is an encouragement to look for the silver lining in heartbreak and when life takes unexpected turns. It is a timely release, as Valentine's Day may be lonely for some." Stephanie continues, "It's sometimes easy to feel stuck in a situation, and we need someone to come alongside and help us see past the moment. Through my song, I hope to be that friend for anyone who needs to hear that it's going to be okay." In June 2020, Stephanie released her new single, "Work for Shoes", which was co-written and co-produced by Owens. The song is a celebratory anthem for shoe lovers everywhere. The comedic music video was released on June 30, 2020. CMT featured the video on CMT.com and also added the single to their official CMT Next Women of Country Spotify playlist. "This single begins a new chapter for me. While most of my released songs have been more reflective in nature, 'Work for Shoes' unleashes spunky Stephanie! Anyone who knows me well is very aware of my sassy side, so I figured it's about time to show that to the world and throw some humor into the mix." Stephanie laughs and continues, "I've always been obsessed with shoes, and wearing the right pair of heels truly makes me feel like I can conquer anything." Stephanie released her third single of 2020, "Mary, Did You Know?", on November 6, followed by the music video on November 25. Owens co-produced her rendition of this classic song, written by Buddy Greene and Mark Lowry. CMT aired the music video on CMT Music channel throughout the holiday season. "I always wanted to release a Christmas song. I love celebrating Jesus' birth because it changed everything, and Jesus is everything to me. "Mary, Did You Know?" has always resonated with me in a special way because of the rich, storytelling lyrics that reflect on the real meaning of Christmas. I am excited to highlight the Gospel message in the music video. The holidays will undoubtedly look a little different for everyone this year in these times of uncertainty, but one thing remains true - God so loved the world that He sent His Son, Jesus, and we can find hope, peace, joy, and love in Him." While Stephanie's journey of self-discovery as a singer-songwriter has been a gradual process, one could say that her move to Nashville was always bound to happen. Growing up in a family of working musicians, her love of singing and performing developed at a very early age. When Stephanie was only seven years old, she landed her first professional recording gig. Owens quickly realized her passion and seized every opportunity that came her way. Around this time, she also began writing her first songs. As a teenager, she became an avid fan of country music and was enthralled by its emotionally transparent and true-to-life messages. During her college years, Stephanie grew more accustomed to the stage and began receiving recognition for her giftings. No stranger to large crowds, she appeared numerous times as a featured soloist at community and university events where there were more than 10,000 people in attendance at each performance. While in college, she also gained experience in front of the camera and in the studio. She made her film debut when she was chosen to play the starring role of Faith Garrett in Finding Faith the movie, co-starring Erik Estrada. The movie was released nationally in 2014 on Netflix and at Wal-Mart and other retailers. The movie soundtrack includes Stephanie singing a featured song and a lullaby which she composed for the film. Read more about the movie and view the trailer on her website. After completing her bachelor's degree in only three years, Stephanie moved from Lynchburg, Virginia to Nashville in 2013 to pursue her dream of becoming a country recording artist. Stephanie has been focused on honing her sound and on writing lyrics that honestly portray her as a person and an artist. Her music, music videos, and story have been highlighted by a number of national websites and blogs, and her official music videos are featured on CMT.com and The Country Network. In October of 2018, she made her national television debut on The Huckabee Show, where she performed and shared her eating disorder recovery story. Stephanie recently appeared at an official Meet and Greet during CMA Fest's 2019 Fan Fair X. She has also launched a School Assembly Program, in coordination with the National Eating Disorders Association, where she sings, shares her story, and talks about body positivity and social media pressures. Stephanie's rendition of the National Anthem has received widespread acclaim, most notably for her performances live on NBC for a NASCAR race and at an NFL game. Enthusiastically-embracing the journey ahead, Stephanie is committed to using her God-given talents to impact the world.
