Amy Elizabeth Hanley was born in Hartford, Connecticut to Dr. Kevin and Ms. Carmella Hanley. Amy's love of film was cultivated in the womb. Her parents used to tell her stories about her mother's pregnancy, stating that the two of them, unable to afford air-conditioning, would go to the local movie theater, buy tickets to the earliest showtime and from there would spend the entire day theater hopping so they could stay in the AC and out of the hot and muggy summer heat. When the actress was two, the family moved to Williamsville, a suburb of Buffalo, New York. Born into a family of movie buffs and a pop culture enthusiast herself, it was only natural that Amy develop a need to be involved with the local Buffalo, NY theater community. She performed with the Beverley Feder Greater Niagara Ballet Company, St. Gregory the Great Church Choir, The Lancaster Opera House, The Ghost Light Theater, Rocking Horse Productions, George Liaros Productions, The Fearless Players as well as performing in various elementary (Country Parkway), middle school (Transit Middle) and high school (Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart and Williamsville East) productions. After high school, Amy attended TVI Actor's Studio in Los Angeles. It was here she met Dean S. Jagger and Bert Belasco. From 2005-08, she attended UMass-Boston studying Theater Arts under Michael Fennimore and Laura Schrader. In 2008, the actress moved back to Williamsville to attend SUNY Buffalo. It was here she earned her BFA studying under Richard Wesp, Kate LoConti, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Sarah Bae-Chung and Greg Natale. Since moving to Los Angeles, she has tackled many of the milestones it takes most actors years to accomplish, including obtaining her SAG eligibility less than a year after moving here.
