Brad is a best-selling author and teacher known for helping people make life-enhancing change. Brad's mission is to help families have "more good - less bad" in their lives and to reduce suffering. He began his own recovery journey in 2002 from addiction and an eating disorder while in Washington DC, working as a news anchor at the Fox affiliate WTTG. What seemed an impossible challenge proved how even the most challenging case might not just get better, but thrive from a starting point of hopelessness. Lamm has popularized the "invitational intervention" where family and friends are invited to collaborate on a Change Agreement. This gentler intervention technique is evidence-based and highly successful. He has managed more than 1,000 interventions, audited hundreds of treatment facilities across the country, presented before UK Parliament, served on the board of the Association of Intervention Specialists, and collaborated with the most knowledgeable and effective specialists in the field of behavioral health while working at the state level to introduce treatment options to communities. In 2012, Brad realized a dream come true as he opened the 54-bed sub-acute trauma program, Breathe Life Healing Center in West Hollywood, California. Breathe's treatment standards are industry-leading and aimed to support mind, body, and spirit. He has been in private practice for more than a dozen years and his scope of practice includes entire families, vets, and adolescents. Brad believes the family is incredibly resilient and uniquely poised to offer support, and loving leverage to help a someone they love, begin change. Lamm co-authored CA bill addiction recovery bill 1228 in 2018 to reform care in California. State Bill 1228 was signed into law by Gov. Jerry Brown in fall 2018. Lamm is the Creator & Producer of the eight-part documentary series Addicted to Food with Oprah Winfrey. Another book, JUST 10 LBS, helped more than 500,000 people lose over ten million pounds through a season-long initiative on the Dr. Oz Show. His work on "Blueprint to Quit Smoking" launched at over 4300 Walmart locations in 2011 and the stop smoking program Stop It: 4 Steps in 4 Weeks to Quit Smoking, became a widely adopted resource for treatment centers across the nation in 2016. Lamm conducts clinical training workshops worldwide.
