Jennifer Valdes was born in Long Island, New York. She has worked in the Television and Film industry since 2005. She graduated from St. John's University with a Bachelor's Degree in Communications (2005). This is where Jennifer Valdes first discovered her passion for video editing and making TV shows and films. Jennifer is also one of the creators and producers of a popular public access television show called The All New Brain Eaters Show, which aired twice weekly from 2006-2013, in Queens and Brooklyn, on QPTV and BCAT. It was a half hour show produced entirely by Jennifer Valdes and her sister, Marissa Valdes . The show consisted of live music and concert coverage, band interviews, conventions, and skit comedy. Jennifer Valdes is an award winning director, writer, and producer, who has been working in the independent film industry for over 13 years. Jennifer first gained momentum in the indie film circuit for her slapstick horror/comedy feature film, Jack 'O' Slasher (2012), which was distributed worldwide. Her unique and eccentric film making style developed further with the release of her award winning black and white, modern film noir, short film, Isabelle (2014). Jennifer's film Isabelle, won the Audience Choice Award at The Macabre Faire Film Festival 2014. The film also won an award from Nerdremix.com for the Best Director of a short film in 2014. Isabelle had its NYC Premiere Screening on April 15, 2015 at the Anthology Film Archives as part of the New Filmmakers NY Screening Series, and also screened at Horror Hound Weekend & Film Festival (2015) where Jennifer was the only female indie film director invited to speak on their Q & A Panel. Jennifer also worked at St. John's University in the AVID Editing Lab, as well as for the New York Film Academy as a Teacher's Assistant in the Video Editing Lab, where she taught Final Cut Pro Video Editing Instruction Classes to High School Students (2015). Premiering at the Macabre Faire Film Festival in January of 2017, Jennifer Valdes wrote and directed a short film called, Laid to Rest (2017), which is a psychological and deeply emotional dramatic story with beautiful cinematography captured by Shawn Anthony and starring Jessica Felice. Laid to Rest was nominated for Best Cinematography, and had an Official NYC premiere and screened at the Cinema Village movie theater in February of 2017 as part of the Winter Film Awards, where the film was awarded the Winner of the 2017 Winter Fear Award for Best Horror Short Film. Laid to Rest also screened at New Jersey Horror Con and Film Festival April 1st 2017 where it was are nominated for Best NY/NJ Film.
