Karina Maruyama is a former international footballer who played 79 times for Japan, scoring 14 goals. Born in Ota, Tokyo, in 1983, Maruyama started her club career with TEPCO Mareeze in Fukushima, before moving to Philadelphia Independence in 2010, and then spending the last six years of her career in Japan. Maruyama played as a forward and appeared for Japan at two World Cup tournaments and three Olympic Games during her 13-year international career. She is now a well-known media personality in Japan.
