After graduating from Bowling Green State University with aspirations of becoming a screenwriter, Mike Throne found he liked to eat and have money to do things, so he went back to his first love - journalism. He started out as the only reporter in a rural bureau of his hometown paper, The Sandusky Register, covering news and sports. In 1997, Throne moved to Chillicothe to become Local News Editor at the Gazette, in which he helped to plan and guide coverage as well as mentor reporters. A year later, he was named Managing Editor and became the lead manager over the Gazette's staff. In 2005, he was handed the reins as general manager, which gave him supervisory responsibility for the entire Gazette operation. In 2005, he was named general manager of the Gazette, and moved to a regional role in 2013. He moved back into the local editor's role in 2015. He lives in Chillicothe with his wife, Kelsey, and has four daughters and a son.
