Sushant Desai

A media entrepreneur fusing the realms of film, media and tech. Sushant lived a completely different life before filmmaking. He was a tech nerd fascinated with code in Australia, where he earned a bachelor's degree in gaming, an organic farmer in India, and a management graduate from the University of Edinburgh, UK. His film career began in 2012 when he set up Camphor Cinema to produce Indian narratives that inspire global audiences. Camphor's first film "Ramanujan," based on the life and times of the mathematical savant Srinivasa Ramanujan, proved to be such a venture. The Indo-British film earned Sushant international recognition when it released to critical acclaim in 2014. Ramanujan was awarded the Best Producetion Award by Norway's NTFF and felicitated by the President of India for producing the social impact film. The film won over 11 international awards including "Best Picture". In the rapidly changing film and media industry, Sushant saw an opportunity to expand his business by bringing feature style filmmaking techniques to corporate and brand storytelling. He set up Sitting Duck Pictures in 2015 to develop and produce riveting content across platforms. His intense work ethic and flexible style allowed him to work on a wide range of projects with internationally acclaimed technicians, talent and organizations including Denstu Impact and Maruti Suzuki. Sushant's motivation to build businesses is underpinned by his desire to interact with wonderful minds. He aspires to create social and intellectual capital through all his work. Outfox Communications Studio, his latest venture, was established to provide such a platform where pioneering ideas grow. Sushant was Recently named Entrepreneur of the Year by the British Council.
