Devon Antonio Dassaw was born November 26, in Miami, Florida to Frankie Postell and Rosa Jackie Carr (deceased). As an infant he entered foster care and would later be adopted by parents James Dassaw, a waste management worker for Miami-Dade County, and Nellie Dassaw, a stay-at-home mom. He is the oldest son in both families of siblings. Devon attended Southwest Miami High School where he discovered his love for acting while watching a scene from "Rush Hour 2", starring Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan. Devon wanted to emulate Chris Tucker to the fullest. His acting passions blossomed after appearing in several high school productions and later in productions at Miami Dade College. While at Miami Dade College, Devon enrolled into New World School of the Arts (University of Florida), where he trained in theater. Upon graduation, Devon received a Bachelor of Fine Arts. He graduated Cum Laude in May 2012. He trained with such individuals as Josh Braun, Joann Yarrow, David Kwiat, Gail Garrisan, Patrice Bailey, and James Randolph. His first paid acting role was in the Pulitzer Prize-awarded play "Ruined" by Lynn Nottage in its premiere run at GableStage (Miami, FL) in September 2012. During production, he pursued screen roles, landing his first on USA Network's flagship show "Burn Notice" as a US Coast Guard radio operator. Devon is also a singer, comedian, emcee, host, writer, and web master. He wrote his first show, a one-person show called "Oo, Mr. Corey, You Bad", a show about a preacher's last day as minister, and his shocking revelations to parishioners. You can see all of Devon's original works on his YouTube channel. He lives in Atlanta, Georgia.
