Maria Theresa Rodriguez was born to English mother Susan Hillier and Colombian father Jose Diego Rodriguez. With her parents not long after becoming separated, she lived with her mother and was raised in the small town of Alcester, Warwickshire although her father lived close by in Stratford-upon-Avon. From a very young age it was shown that Maria developed a strong passion for music and by the age of six her mother signed her up for piano tuition. Throughout her childhood she excelled musically, training with Stratford-Upon-Avon music center college learning Piano & violin. After 3 - 4 years however, she swapped out the four strings of the violin for six and at the age of thirteen, she got her 1st guitar. This eventually lead to her becoming a singer-songwriter performing in the band (co founded with friend Leila A) Gundogs and more recently performing as solo artist "MeMe Detroit". Whilst music was Maria's first love & passion she also enjoyed acting in theatre productions whilst growing up with Stratford-Upon-Avon music center college drama department and at the age of 14 she performed at The RSC Swan theatre in Bugsy Malone. She performed in her last theatre production at the age of 17. When the chance to play the role of a zombie in British feature film, Cockneys Vs Zombies came up, it unleashed and ignited a previously buried flame for acting so she began training immediately with Birmingham's Class Act Drama company. Maria Theresa Rodriguez is also a professional DJ, promoter/CEO of company SoulRock Central, SoulRock Central Records and a qualified hair stylist.
