Hi, I'm Andrea. I was born in Milan and raised in London, where I live and work as a writer and director. My favourite films to watch and make are mostly psychological horrors, dark comedies and anything outlandish or bizarre. After graduating with a BA in Theatre & Performance from the University of Warwick, I was accepted on an MA in filmmaking at The London Film School, from which I graduated in 2016. During my time at the school, I wrote and directed several short films, both fiction and documentary. My mid-course documentary 'How We Are Now' premiered at the 30th Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival and went on to screen at the American Documentary Film Festival, Northwestfest and the New Orleans Film Festival amongst others. In 2017 the film was acquired by Shorts International for US and European distribution. My mid-course fiction film 'Wasteworld' has shown in 16 film festivals worldwide, including BAFTA-qualifying Aesthetica Short Film Festival, Brooklyn Film Festival, Arizona International Film Festival, FilmQuest and the Magnolia Independent Film Festival, where it received an honourable mention for best student film. In 2016, my graduation film 'Home Education' premiered at Screamfest, America's largest and oldest horror film festival. The film has since screened at the BAFTA & Oscar qualifying Leeds International Film Festival, the Oscar qualifying Atlanta, Uppsala and Bermuda Film Festivals and at Fantasia Film Festival. The film won a GOLD Remi award in the student film category at the 50th Worldfest Houston and 'Best Thriller' at the 30th Dragon Con in Atlanta. Home Education premiered online though Screamfest's short's channel and was acquired for distribution in 2019 by Gunpowder & Sky's horror shorts platform ALTER. The film has well over one million views on both platforms combined. The film was also picked up by US AVOD Dark Matter TV, which launched in late 2019. 'Easy As...' is an absurd dark comedy, and is my most recent fiction short. The film premiered at the Sedona International Film Festival in Arizona and has since shown at Crossroads Film festival, Sarasota Film festival, San Jose international Short Film Festival, Orlando Film Festival, deadCenter Film festival and the Oscar-qualifying St. Louis International Film Festival. I sold the script for a psychological horror to BlackBox Multimedia, and am signed on to direct. In 2019 I completed a documentary I shot in Afghanistan, exploring the impact education is having on women in Bamiyan, a particularly progressive region in the country. I have also developed an original TV series for BlackBox Multimedia along with award-winning Italian director Lucio Pellegrini. The series was selected as part of the Drama Pitching Forum at the 2019 MIA TV market in Rome. I am represented by Christian Ogunbanjo at United Agents in the UK and Federica Remotti at Sosia & Pistoia in Italy.
