Emma Carissa was born in Westchester, NY and grew up immersed in New York theatre from a young age. Emma attended New York University Tisch School of the Arts where she majored in Drama, and studied at Atlantic Acting School. She graduated with a minor in creative writing and was awarded university scholar honors. While at NYU, she won Best Actress in a Short Drama at the Seattle Rough Cut Festival for her role in B.A.D. and later co-wrote the short film "Joan & Audrey" for NYU undergraduate intermediate film. In high school, she attended Manhattan School of Music's pre-college program where she majored in classical vocal performance, and was also nominated for a National Youth Arts Award for portraying Helen Keller in The Miracle Worker.
