Megumi Anjo is an actress from Japan, based in Los Angeles. She is also a singer and accredited master of Japanese traditional dance, represented by Smith & Hervey/Grimes Talent Agency and Energy Talent Management in the US. She most recently portrayed the role, Kimiko, in Academy Award nominated film Licorice Pizza directed by Paul Thomas Anderson that earned her several best cast ensemble awards in 2022. She also made her first appearance in US Network television series Good Girls (NBC) in 2021. Megumi was born in Yamagata of the Tohoku region, and grew up in Chiba, Japan. She studied classical ballet since childhood, and also dreamed of becoming an actress. At the age of 15, she was so impressed after seeing a musical theater production, that she immediately joined a musical theatrical company. In 2000, she made her first professional stage debut. She kept training and enrolled in Showa College of Music. She performed the leading role at the graduation public performance and received a Special Prize for excellence in Performing Arts. That same year, she started learning Sanford Meisner's techniques at the United Performer's Studio Academy, Tokyo. Then, she started appearing in TV shows and many theater productions developing her acting career in Tokyo, Japan. Since Megumi moved her base to the US in 2011, she was picked to play as Kate in musical production "The Pirates of Penzance" at West Valley Playhouse, then she completed the Applied Music Program for Vocal Performance at Los Angeles Valley College in two years. She also played various Japanese roles in films and television such as "Hymn to Otsuchi" - USC film production in 2019 and "Very Important Person" (HOT3 TV in Israel) which earned several nominations and a win for Awards of the Israel Television Academy in 2018.
