Graeme Higginson is an outsider independent filmmaker. His first feature-length film is Wanderlust, starring Sydney Howlett as a suicidal writer who wanders into a surreal game of life or death. Higginson began making films in 2010 as a self-taught enthusiast with an appreciation for the shot composition and audacious ambition he saw in the work of the American auteurs of the mid-20th century. Much of his output at this time was informal and raw. In early 2011, Higginson completed Dummy, his first scripted short-subject film. Enrolling in Langara College's Film Arts program in 2013, he directed the shorts Detention Dance and Liberation as assignments. With the technical gains from that program and the mentorship of Rapid Heart Productions' Emrey Wright, Higginson developed an ambitious one-man production strategy. Its result, Wanderlust, is likely to premiere this year, 2021.
