Dante Costello was born in Cornwall, Ontario to parents of Irish, Scottish, and English ancestry. In the mid 2000s, his family relocated to Calgary, Alberta, where he was raised. Having shown an intense interest in film throughout his childhood, he went on to write, direct, edit, and star in his debut feature film "Calico" in 2014, a period western set in 1890s New York and California. Following the project, he resigned from acting in favour of working behind the camera, beginning to write, direct, produce, and edit short films in collaboration with local talent. In 2018, he entered production on his second feature film, a courtroom drama titled "Supposition". Following this project, he wrote, produced, and directed "Forgotten Crimson", a short film. In 2019 he completed three feature-length screenplays as well as a book of poetry. In late 2019, he entered pre-production on his third feature film, titled "Guy at Montreux".
