Ayerim Villanueva (Dominican Republic, January 1987) is a poet and she studied Cinema at the Universidad Autónoma Santo Domingo (2012). In October of 2017 she finished his degree in Cinema at the Veritas University of Costa Rica. Her final work of thesis is her short film, Elena, filmed in Costa Rica and received the honorable mention of the film career. Elena was awarded with the grand Jury Prize at the Nahia Film Festival (Spain 2017), the Public Prize at the Mittelamerikanisches Film Festival (Austria, 2017) and the Special Mention of the Jury at Mostra Escolas Cinema Ciba-Cilect at 13rd Festival DE Cinema Latino-Americano in São Paulo 2018. In 2016 he worked as Student Jury for the Mezcal Grand Prize at Guadalajara International Film Festival (Ficg, México, 2016) and also as Student Jury at Icaro Festival Internacional Cine (Guatemala, 2017). Her short films Nostalgia (2013), Rosario (2015), These days (2016) and Trace (2016) have been exhibited in Australia, Spain, India, Mexico, China, Bangladesh, Italy, Viena, USA, Macedonia, Malta, Japon, Alemania, Italia, Bolivia, Argentina and Serbia.
