Born in Cuba but residing in Naples, Florida, Lazaro Arbos auditioned for American Idol (2002)'s 12th season, which premiered Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013 in Chicago, as contestant #18383. Rooted on by his parents, Gizela Andraca and Reinaldo Arbos, Lazaro wowed the judges with his amazing voice. Singing "Bridge Over Troubled Water", Lazaro easily made it to the next level. Arbos has not gotten there easily, however. His severe speech impediment is a huge obstacle to everyday communication with his friends and family. "Stuttering is really hard. It's like a rollercoaster". Arbos said speaking to the judges before he sung his inspiring song. Lazaro, a 21-year-old ice cream scooper, graduated from Gulf Coast High School in Naples, Florida in 2009. If you want to visit Lazaros and watch him sing live, you can visit Legacy Church of Naples, Florida, where he is a member of the singing group.
