Here, he pioneered using Red One cameras for EFP/wildlife productions as well as being one the first to build and use multi rotor drones for new aerial perspectives. In 2013, "De Nieuwe Wildernis", which Michael filmed, was number one in the Dutch box office and is still the biggest Dutch nature film for cinema. Michael has filmed extensively in Central America for BBC Planet Earth, BBC Natural World and for his own production "Return of the Spider Monkeys". For NHK, in 2014-2015, Michael produced, filmed and edited "Atlas Mountain" which is about the endangered Barbary Macaque in Africa and in 2016-2017, he produced, filmed and edited "Pyrenees Mountains" which is about the endangered Lammergeier in Spain. Sanderson is also a strong advocate against exotic pets and the cuteness curse. His passion and determination for conservation makes him want to show the world what happens to stolen wildlife, destined to become a pet, even when saved.
