Alex was born in Alexandria, Virginia to Cambodian-Chinese parents who escaped from their home in Cambodia during the Khmer Rouge's regime. After they came to America, His father became a barber and his mother, a social worker. The family has moved from Virginia, to Maryland, and then to Washington State. Due to constantly moving homes with his family, he found it difficult to socialize with his classmates in school. He instead stayed home, and watched films with his two brothers. Alex says he always knew he wanted to be an actor and filmmaker from the time he watched "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring" at age seven in theaters. He would go as far as memorizing every scene, and characters' lines so that he can direct, and reenact with his friends during recess in elementary school. In high school, Alex acted in his first play, Shakespeare's "Midsummer Night's Dream" at Todd Beamer High School in Federal Way, WA. After graduating high school, Alex was left unsure about his future in the film industry due to family doubts, and high school adviser about what to do post high school. He was told that he should consider another career since being an actor, and film director, was unrealistic. He eventually enrolled in Green River College in Auburn, Washington where he rediscovered his love for acting. At the Green River Theater, he played Job in "J.B.", Song Liling in "M. Butterfly", Lavatch (the clown) in "All's Well That End's Well", and Rosencrantz in "Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead". Alex graduated from Green River College with an Associate's in Arts and is honing his craft as an actor and a filmmaker. 11/4/2019
