Marie-Pierre de Brienne completed her studies in Musical Theater Performance and Composition and Arrangement at the Lionel-Groulx College in Quebec. Impassioned about musical theatre, she landed her first role in La Melodie du Bonheur (The Sound of Music), produced by Just For Laughs and directed by Denise Filiatrault, performing the young sweetheart and oldest sibling of the von Trapp family, Liesl von Trapp (2010-2015). The cast was nominated for ADISQ's "Show of the Year - Performer". Realizing many of her dearest dreams at the same time, she won the role of Yvette Durelle in The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz, based on the novel by Mordecai Richler, in its 2015 World Premiere. The original musical is performed at the Segal Center for Performing Arts, book and lyrics by David Spencer (author of The Musical Theatre Writer's Survival Guide) and music by Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Little Shop of Horrors, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin), direction by Austin Pendleton. Marie-Pierre also appears as Yvette on the Original Cast Album on the Ghostlight label (the first commercially released English language Montreal cast album ever), which was recorded at Planet Studio in July of the same year. In 2017, a developmental reading version was presented at the York Theater in New York (Off-Broadway), under the direction of Evan Pappas. Marie-Pierre has performed several other major musical theater roles, in both French and in English, among them: Mary Poppins (Mary Poppins, dir. Donna Feore, Segal Center for Performing Arts, 2017), and Lucy Stewart (N, The Queen of Paris, concert, dir. Robert Marien, Monlove, 2014). She was also involved in promotion of the musical revue Blue Suede Show (dir. Janik V. Dufour, Grand V, 2015). In collaboration with performer Marie-Eve Belanger, she co-signed the production Je suis un duo, a French musical theatre tribute concert (dir. Stephane Jacques, Quebec &France, 2012-2016). She then co-signed the triology Je suis un cabaret, an atypical event in which the performers shared the stage with several guests of the Quebec artistic landscape. Marie-Pierre is also a voice-over artist, having dubbed movies and video games in French, including Assassin's Creed III, Monster Inc. 2 - The University of Monsters, and others. She also does voice-over for various tv shows (TVA), and has recorded several novels for the Canadian National Institute of the Blind (CNIB, 2010-2013). A violinist from an early age, she wields the instrument with love. Visual arts are also part of her background.
