Ignacio Ragone is a multidisciplinary artist born in Buenos Aires in 1989. As soon as he finished high school, he enrolled in a directing career at Enerc, where he graduated in 2011. His work focuses on documentaries and their multiple frontiers. Beliefs and post-truth, the life in the cities, environmental issues, inequality and life after death are some of the concerns that inhabit his work. In 2017 he released his first film "Chaco", a documentary that participated in more than 20 festivals around the world, winner of Best Documentary in Oaxaca and Rome, and awards in Jujuy, Bariloche and Buenos Aires. The film was declared a cultural heritage by the National Congress and is used in the communities as a tool for political struggle. His second feature film, "Una linda flor", a French-Argentine co-production, was shot in the heart of Mendoza's Uco Valley. The film dives into the world of wine, its processes, its fashions, its controversies, its tension between art and rural space. His latest film, NOH, co-directed with Marco Canale and Juan Fernandez Gebauer was created with a group of elderly Tokyo children of the second war. Fictions and documentary elements emerged from the approach to their memories and their visions on suicide, love, sexuality and the history of their city. The film received the Jury's Special Mention in the Argentine competition in Mar del Plata and his work as editor was distinguished with the SAE award for best editing. His latest work "Ida", (2021) a short film shot with his cell phone in 8 countries was invited to participate in the Cannes SFC and has just begun its distribution. It is a mockumentary that intertwines the life of a sick man who embarks on a journey of no return and Ignacio who tries to understand what moved this man's life. He is currently working with Nicolás Suárez on "Eucaliptos" a hybrid medium-length film about buildings, neurosis, trees and a safe. He is also developing his first feature film as sole author "Una luz extraña fue vista en el Cielo" selected in the ODS LAB and invited to SANFIC industry. Early 2002 finds him preparing to shoot a film on Mount Aconcagua, a physical and professional challenge to be released on Disney+ by mid-year. Ignacio is also a musician under the artistic name of Alan Alaska, a project with which he has released 3 albums. He has also composed music for series and commercials. He teaches directing at Subiela's National Film School and works as a freelance director and editor on feature films, commercials and music videos.
