J. R. hails from Atlanta, GA and by the age of 11 had already started his career as a producer. After making several student films, he was put to work immediately at Channel 17 WTBS - way, way before it grew to become the giant TBS Network of today. Since music was a driving force in his life, working on concert crews and assisting in recording studios was his version of having a summer job. By the time he got to college, he was mixing the front-of-house and running monitors for several major artists. Then, finding a comfortable place to live in Florida, J R settled down for a while. As chief engineer of a few music production houses, J. R. branched out into producing radio and TV jingles and recording tons of voice-overs. That's when the bug for creating great soundtracks took hold, and since then, he has been the sound designer for many independent films, a bunch of comedy episodes and he loves doing Foley SFX and ADR - (insert Wilhelm Scream here!)
