J. Spencer

Soon after J. (Joe) Spencer's birth, his destiny in storytelling was clear. Starting at age three his mother encouraged him to draw his own comic books, act in local theater productions and watch horror movies to his heart's content. His father taught him how to captivate an audience with nightly bedtime stories that would entrance Joe and his younger brother. At adolescence's arrival, Joe attended Vancouver School of Arts & Academics, the only public school with a "Moving Image Arts" (not "Film & Video") program. There, he produced over thirty shorts and three feature-length films with cohorts-for-life Blaine Moir' (Producer) and Taylor Nida (Editor). Joe furthered his education at the University of North Carolina School of Arts - School of Filmmaking, graduating with a major in Film Production and a minor in Screenwriting. Several of his projects gained accolades from several high profile film festivals. He now lives in Los Angeles, working professionally in film and television production in a multitude of capacities. His extensive history in all aspects of the filmmaking process has given him a colorful vision for iconic characterization and cinematic storytelling. Joe has personally completed over half-a-dozen feature-length screenplays with his most celebrated works shining at the Austin Film Festival, Shriekfest and DragonCon. He also works as a professional script coverage reader and script doctor. On set his eagerness to collaborate is one of Joe's greatest strengths, being aware that cinematic success does not come from one person but rather a single vision.
