Joel Herold is an acclaimed opera singer. From an early age he took an interest in music by studying piano. After a short stint with formal lessons he continued to develop his musical abilities on his own. In 2005, Joel graduated with honors and a degree in vocal performance from Carnegie Mellon University. In 2007, he was a national semi-finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. According to Opera News he "showed off a handsome, light baritone, clear diction and polished stage presence" as Pish-Tush in The Mikado during the 2011 Fort Worth Opera Festival. He was part of an acclaimed opera tour, #30daysofopera, with Opera Memphis. He has sung with a number of major opera companies including Fort Worth Opera, Saratoga Opera, Connecticut Opera, Santa Fe Concert Association, Opera Cleveland, Knoxville Opera, and Opera Theater of Pittsburgh. Some of the roles that he has played include Dandini in Cinderella, Belcore in The Elixir of Love, Papageno in The Magic Flute, Antonio in Le Nozze di Figaro, Bion/First Geezer in Lysistrata and Frank in Die Fledermaus. Joel is also one of the founders of OperaPulse.com. Founded in 2010, the website continues to grow in size and recognition as the destination for news, information and community in the opera world.
