Garner Haines

Actor | Writer
Date of birth : 09/23/1967
City of birth : Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Garner is a musician, songwriter, artist, photographer, but mostly he's a scriptwriter. His first produced work was a Hitch-Hiker's Guide To The Galaxy-inspired radio play called "Post Modern: A Science Fiction Comedy of Near-Epic Proportions" (co-written with Mike Porter) which he also produced. In 2005, in the days when YouTube wasn't yet a household name, he collaborated with director Paul French to create the comedy web series "Hockey Strike", about a couple of geeks who share an apartment, get superpowers, fight aliens, zombies and their arch nemesis, "The Man", and even travel back in time when they missed their favourite TV show (an episode which was re-aired on G4 Tech TV's show "Torrent"). After winning a couple of script contests, he earned his writer wings with his first screen credits in animation, on the popular kids series "Max & Ruby", "Kate and Mim-Mim" and "Almost Naked Animals". Channeling the grief of losing a friend to a senseless death, Garner wrote the first draft of "The Time Is Right in a fever in under 20 hours. (His temperature did not actually exceed 37.5 degrees Celsius, it wasn't a literal fever.), a version of which was read at the LIFT Out Loud pilot script event, moderated by "Being Erica" producer Aaron Martin. Reading the part of Verity for that event was none other than Time Is Right co-producer Marsha Mason. It was destiny. Since then, Garner has written other TV pilots which "garnered" studio interest ("Hercules & Me" with Original Pictures and "RoboBro" with 9 Story Entertainment.), but he kept coming back to this particular passion project about a game show of the future and second chances. He lives in Stratford, Ontario with his wife, daughter, four cats and a very large dog.
