Eleanor Worthington-Cox is an English actress from Formby, Merseyside, best known for portraying Matilda Wormwood in 'Matilda the Musical,' a role which won her a Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical, becoming the youngest ever recipient at the age of 10. She appeared in Matilda from October 2011 to August 2012, later sharing the role with Cleo Demetriou, Hayley Canham, Jade Marner and Isobelle Molloy. Prior to starring in Matilda, she was in the chorus for a Bill Kenwright production of 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat' at the Empire Theatre in Liverpool. In 2013, she filmed the role of Young Princess Aurora in Maleficent (2014), and also played Scout in a stage production of 'To Kill a Mockingbird' at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre in London. From 2015 to 2016, she featured as Polly Renfrew in the children's period drama, Hetty Feather (2015), which was based on the book by award-winning novelist, Dame Jacqueline Wilson. She was featured as one of Screen International's 'Stars of Tomorrow' in 2016, the film magazine's annual showcase highlighting outstanding young acting talent from the UK and Ireland, and she also received a BAFTA TV Award nomination for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her performance in the Sky One mini-series, The Enfield Haunting (2015). In 2018, she starred as Cait in the historical fantasy drama series, Britannia (2017), and also landed the title role in the British period horror film, Gwen (2018), written by William McGregor. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, where she won the Rising Star award.
