John Giordano is a British/Italian filmmaker based between Rome & London. After obtaining a diploma in Documentary Film & TV, he obtained a BA (hons) in Film & Video from the Newport Film School in Wales now University of South Wales, directing his first short film AMIAS (2013), nominated and awarded at various international film festivals and now streaming on the VOD platform Dekkoo. This project helped him secure a bursary to enroll in the MA Filmmaking program of the London Film School, where he refined his crafts in different cinematic areas. His first solo project in the London Film School: Falling as we Grow (2015) was written, directed and produced by him and was shot in one day although having high expectancy production design requirements. Later that year he was the creative producer of WALLS (2015) by Julia Soutchinskaia an intense scale documentary about the demolishment of the Gascoigne Estate in London, famously known to be the worse address in the United Kingdom. The project was shot on video using an Instagram format allowing an even more interesting perspective to the viewers. The project was nominated in various international doc film festivals one of which, the Napoli International Film Festival. On Zhannat Alshanova's White Orchid Hotel (2016) his camera operating on Super America granted him a nomination for best cinematography at the 2016 Camerimage Film Festival. He also worked in various other departments being chosen by various classmates to work on their graduation films, having the possibility of working in the United States, Lebanon and the UK. He graduated from The London Film School producing Three Centimetres (2018) by Lara Zeidan, which won the 32nd Teddy Award for Best Short Film at the Berlinale 2018 and has been selected for more than 100 festivals all over the world, winning several more awards including the 2018 Iris Prize and Best British/Irish Short Film at the 2019 London Critics Circle Awards. In late 2018, he travelled to Cuba alongside filmmaker Marzia Rumi as the cameraman and associate producer of her first feature documentary: ISLAM DE CUBA (2019). More recently he has twice now worked for BVLGARI. As the scriptwriter for their latest and first ever Fashion Film: BVLGARI Cinemagia, presented on the 15th of June at Capri in front of a stellar audience and again as the Copywriter of their advertising campaign: Summer Chapter. He is now working as the Producer & Scenic Artist, for Lara Zeidan's Iris Prize funded short film: A Beautiful Form To See.
