Derek Michael Parker is an American filmmaker and screenwriter. Born in Richmond, Virginia, Parker graduated from Hermitage High School, and the Highland Springs Tech Center for Radio, Broadcasting, and Journalism. While at Highland Springs, Parker developed a skill in speech, radio, writing, and broadcast editing. Parker moved to Houston, Texas where he attended Texas Southern University, graduating with a BA degree in Mass Communications. While at TSU, he was involved in theatre and filmmaking. He started shooting his first short films in the Third Ward Community of Houston. Parker has directed a total of seventeen short films including, "The Three Accused" (2013), "The Parker Sisters" (2014), "Prove Me Innocent" (2015), and three webisodes. He also created the YouTube series "My Roommate From Hell (HBCU WebSeries.)" He was known for shooting music videos and promo videos for artists and local theaters in the Houston area. Today, Parker works as a director, editor, and screenwriter in Los Angeles, California.
