Rory Gilbert is a professional Atlanta-based actor, known for his roles in Point Man (2018) (Sony Pictures), In the Shadows of South Hill (2019) (Discovery Channel) and his voiceover work in Heroes of the Sky: The Mighty Eighth Air Force (2020) (National Geographic). In 2016, Rory signed with Evolution Talent Agency, based in Atlanta and Charlotte. He worked with his agent Beth Saunders until moving to New York City in 2018. In 2018, the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts awarded Rory their Kenan fellowship (the impetus for his move). While there, Rory produced 'Silent Knight', a play he wrote, directed and acted in (with LCPA's guidance and financial support). You can watch 'Silent Knight' in its entirety by clicking the "Writing" tab at RoryGilbertScreenAndStage.com. 2019 was a year of firsts for Rory. He booked his first TV role (in Discovery Ch.'s In the Shadows of South Hill (2019)). He then secured his first major voiceover role (Nat. Geo.'s Heroes of the Sky: The Mighty Eighth Air Force (2020)). He also earned his place in the Equity Membership Candidate Program (EMC) -- a distinction many performers do not dream of until well into their careers. Rory has appeared onstage as well, most notably playing the lead in 'Rock of Ages' at Cygnet Theatre (this contract gained Rory his EMC status); 'Silent Knight' at the Lincoln Center's Clark Theater; and in 'Luna', a collaboration between Cirque du Soleil & UNCSA. The Society of American Fight Directors has certified Rory for work in knife and unarmed combat choreography. Born in Honolulu, HI and raised in Columbia, SC, Rory began actor training at age 16 at the SC Governor's School for the Arts. He further pursued conservatory training, ultimately graduating from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts in 2016 with a BFA in Acting & Directing. Rory's training at UNCSA included (but was not limited to) various acting techniques for stage and film, singing, dance, voice and speech, and stage combat. Rory took directing classes in tandem with the acting curricula, participating in both fully and simultaneously.
