Kobald

American professional wrestler for CHIKARA. Made his in-ring debut in a dark (pre-show) Scramble Match at "AIW Girls Night Out 3" on January 28, 2011. First appeared on camera in CHIKARA at the 2010 Season Finale "Reality Is Relative" on December 12, 2010 with Sinn Bodhi, Obariyon and Kodama, when Bodhi told UltraMantis Black that he wanted the Eye of Tyr as payment for training them to be his Dark Army. The name Kobald officially debuted at the 2011 Season Premiere "Chaos in the Sea of Lost Souls" on January 23, 2011, when he and Bodhi interfered during the Incoherence (Hallowicked and Frightmare)-Batiri (Obariyon and Kodama) match. He made his in-ring debut at "Clutch of Doom" on February 20, in the Spectral Envoy (UltraMantis Black/Hallowicked/Frightmare)-Batiri match. He has also competed for Beyond Wrestling, CLASH Wrestling, Excellence Pro Wrestling, C*4 Wrestling, Wrestling is Fun!, Wrestling Is Art, Wrestling Is Awesome, IWA Deep South, Vicious Outcast Wrestling, WrestleJam and Squared Circle Wrestling. Over the next few years in CHIKARA, the Batiri changed from rudos (heels/bad guys) to tecnicos (faces/good guys.) At the CHIKARA return show, "You Only Live Twice" on May 25, 2014, the Batiri defeated the Odditorium (Sinn Bodhi, Qefka the Quiet and Sir Oliver Grimsley) by disqualification. At the end of the show, as everyone was celebrating Icarus defeating Eddie Kingston for the CHIKARA Grand Championship and the return of CHIKARA, the Flood's monstrous leader stomped out. Kobald speared him to no effect. Deucalion destroyed Kobald with the Chokebreaker, making this his last appearance for 18 months. In September 2015, UltraMantis Black suffered career-ending leg injuries while leading his team the Arcane Horde (UMB/the Batiri [Obariyon and Kodama]/Oleg the Usurper) in the CHIKARA Challenge of the Immortals Tournament. Mantis appealed to CHIKARA Director of Fun Mike Quackenbush to allow him a replacement, since Max Smashmaster, the captain of the Wrecking Crew (The Devastation Corporation [Smashmaster/Blaster McMassive/Flex Rumblecrunch]/Jaka) wouldn't accept anything less than a four-on-four match at "Key Decisions" on November 7th. This led to Mantis and the Batiri, bringing Kobald, in the storyline, back from the dead. At "CHIKARA Tightrope" on June 11th, UltraMantis Black, possessed by Nazmaldun, hexed Kobald to add him to the heXed Men (Mantis hexed Obariyon and Kodama at "CHIKARA Whisper House" on May 5th.) This ended at the second part of the 2016 Season Finale "CHIKARA Supremacy" on December 3rd. After Dasher Hatfield pinned Hallowicked to win the Torneo Cibernetico between CHIKARA's Mightiest Heroes (Dasher/Fire Ant/Princess Kimberlee/Heidi Lovelace/the Estonian Thunderfrog/Oleg the Usurper/Missile Assault Man/Ophidian) and the heXed Men (Hallowicked/Frightmare/Obariyon/Kodama/Kobald/Icarus/Mark Angelosetti/Jigsaw), Ophidian stole the Eye of Tyr from UltraMantis Black and used it on him, saying "Be free." After the credits there was a scene of Ophidian and the Estonian Thunderfrog in a forest with Ophidian saying it was time to destroy the Eye of Tyr. The Thunderfrog brought his Hammer of Peace down on the Eye as the camera faded to black. Kobald was the only member of the Batiri to remain a rudo after this, as a member of the Legion of Rot (back in February 2015, Hallowicked had referred to Nazmaldun as "the Lord of Rot") with Hallowicked and Frightmare. He would constantly interrupt Oleg's matches and interviews pleading for Oleg to hit him because his mind was messed up due to Ophidian and the Thunderfrog destroying the Eye of Tyr, with Oleg reminding Kobald of his pledge to never harm him stemming from Kobald's return at "CHIKARA Key Decisions." Kobald had been afraid of Oleg, saying, "He killed Dragon Dragon," referring to Oleg destroying Dragon Dragon at "WIF! Ripe for the Picking." Finally, at "CHIKARA The Eleventh Hour" on May 6th, Kobald interfered in Oleg's match with CHIKARA Grand Champion Juan Francisco de Coronado and Oleg hit him with Off With His Head! Since then, Kobald, while still wearing the symbol of Nazmaldun on his gear, has been singing Oleg's praises.
