Alison Bedell grew up on Long Island as an only child. She was an honors high school student who then earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology at SUNY Stony Brook. Ultimately, she decided that she wanted to serve the public by combining use of her Bachelors in Psychology and her love of law enforcement, where she can "correct and protect". She is now a full-time Probation Officer and a licensed Private Investigator. While working her law enforcement position, she has earned a Distinguished Pistol Expert bar, a Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) recognition award for DWI arrests and a County Legislature's Probation Officer of the Month award. Her television career commenced when she was an extra on Showtime's The L Word (2004), and asked to be in a couple of commercials, for a lesbian travel company, which aired for a year on LOGO. Alison met her husband, home improvement contractor Skip Bedell, in 2010. It was love at first sight. Skip had also had some on-camera television experience and had an interest in pursuing a television career. The couple ended up marrying on a television show on the WE network, Marry Me in NYC (2011), and got their first experience on reality TV, together. Subsequently, they were asked host Catch a Contractor (2014) on Spike TV, which brings them to Los Angeles for a large part of the year. In July, 2015, Alison & Skip premiered their own podcast, Hammer and Nails, which they release twice per week. Alison continues to reside on Long Island with Skip, and their many pets. When she isn't investigating offenders, she enjoys being a biker chick on the Harley with Skip, vegetable gardening and making her own jewelry.
