Kirk Langer was born in Edmonton Alberta Canada. He first gained notoriety when he won the Best Director award for his first short film "Darkest Choices" at the Edmonton International Film Festival. Moving forward, his success continued for his short film "Epitaph", taking Best Original Screenplay at the UA Film Festival. His feature length script, "Natural Selection" garnered him a $20,000 scholarship and he decided to attend VFS Vancouver Film School. After graduation Kirk joined the IATSE Cinematographers Union, where he continues to work in the camera department on Camera Crew. He also works as Camera Operator, Director and Writer for independent film and television productions in both Canada and the United States. Kirk went on to write and direct his documentary entitled "Dog and Town" which was well received, though controversial. His other short films including, 'Ataraxia', 'Erebeeta', 'Light', and Avellines Window' met with notable success in the festival circuit. His latest Feature Length Film entitled 'The Elephant' was released in early 2023. When not on set, Kirk Langer continues to write and direct his own projects, and works as a graphic designer, creating theatrical posters and other marketing campaigns for the film industry. He works closely with "2 Steps from Hell", a music company that works in Hollywood California for theatrical trailers, promotion and marketing.
